# CORE 7 Release Notes

Rollup release notes for CORE 7 up to the current build 7.1.3

# RELEASE SUMMARY

Version 7 Rollup is a generally available major release of CORE which includes system improvements and new capabilities across all aspects of the product from improved Video Processing Support to Player and Package Sharing enhancements and expanded integration with 3rd party platforms such as Box and Okta. This release also includes a significant number of bug fixes, stability and performance enhancements to the platform. Please review this document for additional details about this release.

Version 7 Rollup will be labeled v7.1 and includes all features, updates and bug fixes from 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, & 7.1.3.

# NEW FEATURES AND CAPABILITIES

## 1. VIEWER/PLAYER ENHANCEMENTS

Several New enhancements have been made to the Viewer / Player experience

- **_Remove HTML options from the under-asset comment bar._** Previously, we added HTML commenting, but feedback from many users was that the under-file commenting in the player was too complicated with HTML and other controls. So we made it simpler.

- **_New Comments Default as New Discussions._** If you’re in an asset in File Search or in a Package with several associated discussions, and no discussion is active, CORE automatically treats this as a new comment within a new discussion where you can decide who to send it to.

- **_Resize Annotation Text Box._** You can now resize the positional annotation text box.

- **_Hover-Text on Thumbnails._** We have added hover-text over thumbnails in the playlist to show long filenames.

- **_Player now plays Raw CR3 format files._**

- **_Annotation thumbnails are removed from individual comments._** This displays more comments and improves site performance. Now, instead of selecting the thumbnail, select the annotation icon to jump to that note on the file.

- **_Highlighted Comment and File in the Package View._** Now, when a file comment is selected in the right panel, the referenced file(s) will be highlighted in the package view.

## 2. MEDIA PROCESSING ENHANCEMENTS

- **_Hybrik Support._** We’ve added Hybrik (a Dolby company) as our primary transcoding service. Hybrik manages the transcoding and processing of video files. It helps to improve the user experience and the range of video and audio files supported for audio and video media processing. By moving to Hybrik, CORE will have robust, managed, and secure processing of critical video files at scale.

- **_Forensic Support for Hybrik._** This release also introduces the support of forensic watermarking utilizing Hybrik transcoding. For those that have forensic watermarking licensed and enabled, this process will be transparent and be processed in the background. No additional user actions need to be taken. If you are unsure about whether you have a forensic watermarking license, please contact support.

- Improved video upload performance by further optimizing proxy transcoding.

## 3. PACKAGE SHARING ENHANCEMENTS

Collaborating through packages of files and sharing are key components of the CORE platform. Several new enhancements have been added to improve the package sharing experience.

- **_You can now use “@mention” inside of a Comment to quickly add a user to a comment thread._** Simply type the at “@” symbol and start typing the user’s name to make sure they’re added to the existing discussion.

- **Timestamps included on Inbox Packages.** We’ve added timestamps, along with the already existing date stamps, to all of your inbox packages reflecting latest comments on a package.

- **Approval Packages.** We’ve also added timestamps next to the date in the thumbs-up/down approval panel history for better tracking.

- **Better understand your Package Share Settings.** Tooltips have been added to the summary settings area on the share panel. Just hover over one of the listed checkmarks for the details.

## 4. CREATE NEW USERS DURING A PACKAGE SHARE

Approved users can share a package directly to an external email address. In other words, the recipient does not have to be a pre-setup, authenticated CORE user.

## 5. SYNC REVIEW ENHANCEMENTS

Several new enhancements have been added to the Sync Review process.

- **_Start or join a sync review session from any package type._** In the package, you must toggle on “Review mode” first.

- **_Host switching has been added to Sync reviews,_** too, so now the presenting user can hand off the reins to any other user in the session.

## 6. FILE SEARCH ENHANCEMENTS

- **_New Advanced Search Functionality._** There is now an Advanced Search option! Refine your search quickly and accurately to get the right result(s) that you’re after.

- **_Right Click Functionality on Browse Tags, Asset Groups, Packages, and Files._** File and Tag Selection - You can now Right Click in File Search and on Asset Groups, Packages and Files.

- **_Hyperlinked URLs are now supported in Asset Details tag fields._** Now you can add websites to your Asset Detail fields, just be sure to include the http:// or https:// at the front in order for it to link out.

## 7. UPLOADING & TAGGING UPDATES

- **Statuses can be used to label ‘versions’.** For users who are updating individual files, it’s now easier to manage your file versions. When the older file is open in the Player, select upload.

- **Tags can be extracted from file names on upload.** The first iteration of CORE’s bulk tagging features is now available.

## 8. DOWNLOADING UPDATES

- **_Generate Your Own Zip Files on Download._** Zip files for a download are no longer automatically generated.

- **_Download to Box._** Export your files to Box from CORE via downloading.

## 9. INTEGRATION ENHANCEMENTS

- **Assets can now be transferred to Box FROM CORE**.

## 10. LIVE ROOMS ENHANCEMENTS

- Admins can now see all live rooms users have created and been invited to in the system by selecting a user.

- As a new security measure, Live Room users can now standby to join a Live Room in a Waiting Room where the Room Admins approve or deny their entry.

## 11. USER MANAGEMENT ENHANCEMENTS

- **Usernames can now include the '@' special character (in other words, email addresses).**

- In User Roles, the History tab now displays any and all admin actions for the role.

## 12. ADMIN-SPECIFIC IMPROVEMENTS

- **Grant Users Access.** Admins can now give users and user roles access to productions and departments or asset groups within a production through the new Right Click functionality.

- **Tag Structure Updates.** Ability to drag and drop the order of descriptive tags.

## 13. FIXED BUGS AND USABILITY ISSUES

- Several issues for Administrative interface resolved.
- Several issues for Asset Viewer and Asset Search resolved including caching issue when viewing file details.
- Several issues around Box integration resolved including Assets are categorized but imported assets do not appear on Search.
